Rajasthan tourist attraction cities are those cities having many heritage monuments, and wonderful locations, historical as well as cultural. Old names of Rajasthan

Formerly known as Mewar and Marwar. With many cities, provinces and sub-regions during the Rajput and Mughal period. Later known as princely state of Rajputana during the British colonial time. India obtained its independence in 1947. In 1961 the states of free India, were reunited to govern conveniently. “Raja” signifies the king and “sthan” as the land.

These many small and big provinces of Mewar and Marwar ruled by different Rajput clans. Called as Raja(king) or Maharaja(great king or King of many kings). So combining their areas into one state brought the name as Rajasthan.

Jaipur the Pink city of Rajasthan

The city of Jaipur around 260 km from Delhi and 240 km from Agra. This beautiful city was constructed newly after a long process of planning by the then King of Mewar Raja sawai Jai singh. The capital was at Amer. Amer Fort built by Raja Man singh was the main capital of Mewar.

The city of Jaipur got completed in 1727 with City Palace as the center of the Jaipur. It is 8.3 km south of Amer fort. It takes only 15-20 minutes to reach Jaipur city from Amer fort. The design and architect of the city was very modern in that time.

The city of Jaipur present many beautiful buildings, Fort and Palaces. The major attractions are Chandra Mahal or City Palace, Hawa mahal or Wind Palace, Amer fort, Nahargarh fort, Jaigarh fort, Jawahari Bazaar and Jal Mahal or Lake Palace etc.

Amer fort

Amer fort is an old capital of Kachhwaha Rajput Clans. It is not very far from the Jaipur, hence come into the major tourists attraction of Jaipur. Amer fort is surrounded with mountains and it has enclosure rampart wall on the mountains to protect the city from the enemy. It appears as the mini wall of China with irregular up and down of the walls with stairs and watch towers according to the hills pattern. Amer fort is a UNESCO designated world heritage site. It has many beautiful and attractive Palaces inside the Fort.

Main tourist attraction of the palace.

The Jaleb chok (Front courtyard for Army, a place to dismount from the Elephant), Suraj Pol(Sun Gate) on the east side, Chand Pol (Moon Gate) on the west side of the courtyard. On the upper chamber of Chand gate there is a drum house to welcome the King and Royal guests. It is still in function with traditional music and musical instruments to Welcome the Tourists, while they enter the sun gate riding on an elephant.

Singh Pol (Lion Gate) to enter the Diwan-e-Aam or public audience hall. As you enter you encounter a hall with many columns and The Ganesh Pol on your right hand side. The Ganesh Pol or main entrance to the Palace area of Amer, painted with many pictures by hands. The Mirror Palace and the Ladies apartment of this Fort are also the great attraction where you can take nice pictures.

Bikaner The Jewel of Thar Desert

Bikaner is located north-west of India. It is at the north of Jaipur and a city which is located in the center of Thar desert. This city founded by Rao Bika in 1486 as he decided to conquer other Rajput clans of Mewar region during his time. Rao bika built a fort here along with the seven Km. long rampart wall which surround the city.

Bikaner has a great historical significance of Rajasthan. Bikaner is also one among the largest cities of Rajasthan tourist attraction cities.The main fort of Bikaner also known as the Junagarh fort. Built by Raja Rai singh, an army general of Mughal Emperor Akbar in 1593. It has two main gate and 37 small balconies on the exterior wall of the fort. The Fort has many Palaces inside. These are Anup Mahal, Chandar mahal, Phool Mahal, Chattar Mahal, Shish Mahal and Karn Mahal. The Har Mandir (Temple) of Rai singh is also very attractive.

The art and culture has really got a great impression and patronage in Bikaner. The Bhandarsa Jain Temple is a great example to describe the impressive carvings and designs of this 16th century. The other Temples of Bikaner are Chintamani, Neminath and Aadinath temple are equally attractive. The camel breeding and equine center of Bikaner located 10 km outside of the city is the largest in Asia.

The Ganga Sawarn Jayanti Museum which houses many objects of the Harrappa, Gupta and Kushan era is worth exploring. The Gajner palace, Lalgarh fort add to the list of the attractions of Bikaner (these days converted to hotel for Tourists). Jaisalmer the living fort

In the Thar desert of Rajasthan, there is situated a massive fort known as the Jaisalmer fort. The Jaisalmer fort and the city take great part to present many varieties to attract the tourist. Built in the year 1156 by Rawal Jaissal singh and so the city is known by his name. It appears to be a museum cities as it present great artistic designs in the fort architecture. The fort has 99 bastions of semicircular on its outer side, built mainly with yellow sandstone and thereby appear to be the golden fort during the day time in the middle of Thar desert. The fort had been constructed on an elevated piece of land and its periphery is around 5.1 square km. Jodhpur city

Jodhpur a city of Rajasthan known as the blue city of Rajasthan. This city is like entrance of great Thar Desert. The city is called as JodhPur built by Rao Jodha in 1459. This city appears to be a diamond in the vast desert of Rajasthan. This city of Marwar region is a fortified city with rampart wall. The major population is Rajput Rathor community Who established this city. Apart from few new colonies, the major part of the city is inside the enclosure of 10 km long fortification with seven gates in different directions.

Jodhpur is famous for its artistically rich fort, palaces and temples like Jaisalmer and Bikaner in the desert. The fort is standing on high hill around 450 meters above. The fort has 20 to 120 fit high walls.The fort is also called Mehrangarh fort, now a museum. The Moti Mahal, Phool Mahal, Shish Mahal, Daulat Khana, Fateh Mahal, Shringar Chowki and Rani Sagar inside this fort are worth visiting.

The famous and one of the largest beautiful Temple in Jodhpur is called Chandrika Devi temple. One can enjoy an spectacular view of the city from here. Udaipur The Venice of Rajasthan

This beautiful city of Rajasthan is also called the white city because of its lake palace. It is situated in the largest lake of Udaipur called Chilka lake. The Palace had been built as the summer retreat for the Royal family by Jagat singh. The city with historical City Palace or Uday Palace built by Udai singh, is on the southern bank of this lake.

The city Palace has three division worth exploring. The old and original area is called Raj mahal area. The other parts added by other kings are now converted into museums.
