The main attraction of this city is its fort. The fort is a massive citadel built in 1599 by Raja Man singh. however what we see today is not actually what it was during its early time. This fort is a series of continuous building built by its later rulers. A major part of the fort is a development of its architecture during 16th century.

Raja man singh palace is in its southern area, built with local available stones, bricks and mortar. Normally when someone visit this fort. Now a days they encounter many palaces. The first is Diwan-e-Aam then Sukh Mahal and Diwan-e-Khas. And lastly one enters Man singh palace and ladies apartment.

The four courtyards and three blocks with an aisle of a series of rooms and streets make it little complex to find the way out. Very before while you reach Amer fort. You find the city surrounded with mountains and ramparts from Delhi. You can see a well developed organised city with modern and old settlements divided by roads and streets.

Here one can take a ride of elephant to enter the fort in royal style.

Though the borders of Rajasthan starts very before, but as a capital of Mewar region the fort city was the entrance of this area. The fort you can explore after just entering it from two man gates, the Suraj Pol and the Chandar Pol. The courtyard Jaleb chok was for the royal army to receive their orders directly from the King. A flight of steps takes you to enter Singh Pol and the courtyard with a palace of red sand stone and marble. It has many columns to make it an open hall. It used to be the public audience hall or Deewan-e-Aam. Here you can see an entrance gate of another block of palaces with a courtyard and garden.

The gate is attractive for its beautiful hand paintings. A big image of elephant god Ganesh appears on it. The upper storey with three three latticed arch window is called Suhag Mandir. Here the royal ladies used to sit and see the activities of Deewan-e-aam without getting noticed by public. As you enter this gate you encounter two palaces with a beautiful garden of Star shape. The architecture is similar to the Mughal forts and palaces.

This block of two palaces on either side is completely reflect the Persian arts and architecture. As the Man singh and later Kings of this fort, employed as major army generals in Mughal court. This block was the construction of Raja Jai singh. The sheesh Mahal and Sukh Mandir excels in its beauty. The summer retreat Sukh Mandir has simple yet creative art on its exterior. A water channel provided to keep the palace cool during summer. On the other side Sheesh Mahal is attractive for its glass mosaic work.

The white marble double storied building has numerous designs on it. This palace decorated for their Royal family members and Guest. One can see the stand glass designs artistically designed inside the palace. From this courtyard of Sheesh Mahal you can go upstairs to explore sukh mandir and see the Jaigarh fort on its south-western hill top.

The final part of the fort is Man singh Palace and ladies apartments. with a series of inter-connected rooms and corridor shows the strong place of the royal ladies. The Mansing chamber is overlooking all the parts of this area is a curious design. the walls are painted with numerous different designs. These attractions with many other in this beautiful massive fort make you fully charged.
